Below is a simple step-by-step recipe to create a room spray to freshen up your bedroom, bathroom, living room, etc.

Supplies you will need:

It is important to reference the IFRA certificate for your fragrance oil of choice to confirm it is skin and room spray safe and that the recipe conforms with the IFRAs maximum concentration levels.

Recipe/Weight Calculations:

70% Perfumery Alcohol - 70% x 110g = 77g
10% Fragrance Oil (Cocoa Butter Cashmere) - 10% x 110g = 11g
20% Witch Hazel - 20% x 110g = 22g

** We recommend filling our Ilyana bottle to 110g**

Instructions:

    1. Sanitize your bottle(s) and tools using rubbing alcohol and rinse with water afterwards. Allow them to air dry completely before using.
    2. Meanwhile, prepare your workstation, set out your tools and get your ingredients ready. We recommend wearing gloves and other protective equipment to ensure safety and a sterile working environment.
    3. Measure your ingredients and add them all to an empty beaker.
    4. Once all of your ingredients have been added, stir your ingredients together.
    5. Pour your mixture into your bottle(s).
    6. Place the cap on and screw snuggly on your bottle(s).
    7. Label your bottle(s). Be sure to include any required safety information for your customers.
    8. Allow your mixture to cure over 1-2 weeks to ensure proper fusion of ingredients.

 Additional Information

This is a great starting recipe and some modifications could certainly be made to get your ideal results. For example, if you'd like your room spray to smell more potent, you could add more fragrance oil (assuming the level of fragrance oil does not exceed the IFRA maximum concentration level) and add less perfumers alcohol or witch hazel to compensate. We have not tested changing the percentage or perfumery alcohol or witch hazel in this recipe. Any modifications would need to be further tested by you, the creator before use or selling.

Perfumery alcohol fills multiple purposes in this recipe. It acts as a carrier, helping to dilute the fragrance oil so it is safe for use. It also helps to prevent the room spray mixture from spoiling. And finally, it evaporates quickly when warmed, helping to carry the scent of your fragrance oil with it as it dissipates into the air. Perfumery alcohol is widely used in commercially-prepared perfumery formulations.

Witch hazel has antimicrobial properties and helps to preserve your room spray mixture. It also helps bind the mixture between the alcohol and fragrance oil together. Finally, it helps the scent linger longer by ensuring it does not evaporate too quickly.
