Upcycle Vessels and Minimize Your Impact on the Environment

At Creators Journey, we believe in doing what you can to minimize your impact to the environment. That's why we're happy to offer these creative ways to repurpose candle vessels once the candle has burned down.

Before you repurpose your vessel, you'll want to remove any remaining wax. Our preferred method of doing this is to put the vessel into the freezer for a few hours or overnight. Once the wax is frozen, it should pop right out of the vessel, but you might need to use a spoon or butter knife to break it up and scrape it out. Once the majority of the wax has been removed, simply wash your vessel out with soap and hot water to remove any remaining wax residue. If you want your vessel to be sterile, you can clean it with rubbing alcohol, rinse it out with water and then let it completely air dry before using.

Don't dispose of that leftover wax either! Add it to your wax warmer to get the most out of every last crumb of wax.

Now that your vessel is wax-free, here are some creative ideas to repurpose candle vessels:

  • Storage container - Store small items like cotton balls, Q-tips, or other bathroom essentials
  • Pen holder - Use it as a holder for your pens or other office supplies
  • Potted Plant - Fill the bottom with some rocks, soil and add a small succulent or live plant
  • Snack container - Fill the jar with your favourite midnight snack (jelly beans or M&Ms are some of our favourites)
  • Jewelry catcher - Catch your small jewelry like rings and bracelets
  • Candle holder - If the vessel is in pristine condition - no cracks or imperfections, you can use it as a candle holder for tea lights. Some creators also offer refill programs

You can also repurpose our Ilyana bottles. Here are a few creative ideas we've come up with:

  • Vase - Fill it with fresh or dried flowers
  • Match bottle - Fill it with match sticks and keep it with your candle collection for easy lighting
  • Sand collection - Collect sand from your favourite beaches and create keepsakes
  • Bead storage - Store small beads for crafting projects
